Welcome to our FAQ Page.  Although chiropractic care has gained widespread acceptance throughout the medical community and among the general population, we find that many people have misconceptions about chiropractic care.

Q:  What medical training do chiropractors receive?
A:  Doctors of Chiropractic (D.C.) have successfully completed the D.C. degree program, passed the National Board Examinations and applied for and received their license to practice.  Unlike medical doctors, chiropractors do not prescribe drugs or perform surgeries.

Q:  I’ve heard that chiropractic care can be habit forming or addictive, is that true?
A:  No, chiropractic care is not addictive but some proponents have used that term to describe their experiences.  It is not chiropractic treatments that is addictive but the improved physical and mental health patients experience as a result of the treatments.

Q:  What is a subluxation?
A:  A subluxation is an area of the spine that has become misaligned, resulting in a reduced or otherwise impaired range of motion that causes pressure on local nerves. Subluxations interfere in the communication between the brain and various body parts causing a variety of symptoms including headaches, fatigue, nervousness and localized aches and pains.

Q:  Is chiropractic care expensive?
A:  Compared with many other alternative treatment methods chiropractic care is less expensive.  The reasons include the fact that there are no associated laboratory or prescription costs with chiropractic care as with some other forms of treatment.

Q:  Is chiropractic safe if I’m pregnant?
A:  Yes, chiropractic care is completely safe and very beneficial for expectant mothers.   Chiropractic adjustments can help their bodies respond to the physical changes they are experiencing as they experience weight gain and hormonal changes.  Most women find that the adjustments improve pregnancy and make the delivery easier for their babies and themselves.  Chiropractors are experienced and comfortable performing adjustments on pregnant women and modify the treatments to accommodate the needs of expectant mothers.
